And the Watch of the Week Is....
Jan 28, 2018,12:19 PM
I want you ll to know how difficult it was to keep an open mind. I was raised around Corvettes and Harley-Davidson. In the American culture, you're either Ford, Chevy or MOPAR. It's not acceptible to split your allegiance. As such, I was raised to love Corvettes, hate Fords but respct MOPAR.
That's why it was difficult for 2 of my 3 favorites this week were actually Mustangs. (Forgive me Father). Even with some beautiful Corvette photos this week, the Mustangs really stood out. So without further ado....
Second runner up goes to Watchonthewrist for his beautiful pairing of a Ford Mustang and his Urwerk, two incredible machines, forged from the same ingot. Great match!
First runner up is Abel with his Panerai / Mustang combo. I love the story and can certainly relate because in the American culture, muscle cars are something that like watches, are shared and passsed from one generation to the next. I too am working on restoring a muscle car, my 1970 Corvette that I expect to pass down to my son, as my father passed it to me.
And finally, Watch of the Week goes to Nomadgile's Zodiac, and with good reason. The SuperBird goes without saying. It is the grail of many a muscle car aficionados. I remember seeing them as a kid, and as an adult, they are even more awe inspiring.
As for the Zodiac? It is a muscle car on the wrist. Few people realize how much of a workhorse the Zodiac was during Viet Nam. This is a watch of legend and lore among the military ranks. As an Army officer of 35 years, I can tell you that stories are passed down to this very day about Zodiacs purchased and worn in combat. Rolex seems to get all the glory, but I'm here to tell you, Zodiacs did the heavy lifting. And for that reason, Zodiac earns the title of Watch of the Week.
