With cars from every decade over which the race has been run, the Le Mans Classic is a celebration of racing machines from yesteryear; from the start of the famous race, to more recent times. Any one with an interest in motor racing, and the cars that made such races great, should really look to attend the event. It really is a 'petrol-head's' dream race. ... more

After a nine month wait, my Romain Gauthier Collection Prestige finally arrived, hand delivered by Romain Gauthier himself (not sure why he couldn't just give me a discount and send it via FedEx). As many of you are familiar, Romain’s Collection Prestige comes in four “flavours” – two in rose gold, one in white gold and one in platinum. I selected the rose gold with champagne dial primarily for the gilt frost finishing that Romain applies to thi... more

week or so ago, my wife and I had the good fortune to be given a tour of the AP Service Center in Clearwater, FL, by the Director, Gilles Vincent. An enthusiastic and charming man, he gave me permission to post the photos I took. He would pose for a photograph only with me, but he didn't say anything about cropping myself out of the photo, which I've done: After gaining entry (which even those delivering our watches for service are not permitted to do), one meets the Customer Service staff, who are th... more

Lending a Hand - How Heuer was saved by an arms dealer By Su JiaXian Before TAG, it was Heuer. Founded by Edouard Heuer in 1860 at St. Imier, Heuer specialised in stopwatches and chronographs. The company made a significant contribution to horology with the invention of the oscillating pinion (also known as cam) in 1886, which replaced the more expensive column wheel and is the most prevalent type of mechanical chronograph today. I had the pleasure to meet Mr Daniel Zimmerman from Moser (Director sales & marketing) a couple of weeks ago in their London dealer's showroom. It was a fantastic opportunity to chat with him, hear a little about Moser and see some wonderful watches. The first thing I noticed was that Daniel was wearing a platinum Henry with a lovely greyish ruthenium dial which he happily took off for me to look at. This watch definately looks much better in the metal than it does in pictures. The display back glass is b... more

According to a watch-executive, a few companies in the region have battled for 3 years vying for the distributorship of Guy Ellia. Last month, Sincere Watch Limited (Singapore & Malaysia) got the distributorship for the brand, Guy Ellia. Understand that Guy Ellia is very selective in choosing their retailers and he wants to maintain a certain positioning of status and prestige. From his list of retailers, the focus is Middle East and Europe, including Greece and Russia. USA ha... more

OK..wow. First off...I am overwhelmed with the actual production piece of the 303. All pics seen so far were the "carmay" blank display. I took delivery on 10th July of my very own 303 at 430pm. Joined a party to celebrate the arrival of the watch in Johore...with a celebratory ride in the Porsche Carrera GT to baptise the watch!!! With dust and fresh air!! Here..the delivery of the watch...and the soundtrack of "Satisfaction" will best suit this..more.. Before the sunsets!!! t... more

Mr Sarpaneva dropped by Kuala Lumpur to host a dinner for the lucky enthusiasts who ordered pieces from him and also to share with us the story behind the Sarpaneva watches. The dinner was held at one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in KL, Hajime.Stepan Sarpaneva. His watches came in birch boxes made in Finland. Each box had a unique grain pattern and were very smooth to the touch. The cover was held closed with magnetic fixtures. The new owners slowly opening their boxes with great anticipation... more

Three years of planning, several visits to watch boutiques for a 'test drive', pleasant get-togethers with other owners and a lot of thought and research and I finally have a yellow gold, manual wind La Tradition 7027BA/11/9V6 (Cal. 507DR) on my wrist. A watch that is now well known to you and far from the 'new kid on the block', but I always take my time making long term commitments and I enjoy the 'journey' as much as the destination. While I can't add much to the photographic record on the L... more
