PuristSPro Interviews Angelo Bonati by Anthony Tsai © April 2008 Angelo Bonati joined Panerai as the CEO in 1997 and has lead and transformed Panerai into a huge success of which many other CEOs are probably envious of. Leading the charge and establishing itself as the leader of the large watch trend, Panerai continues to defy those who believe Panerai watches are just a “fad”. This is the first time PuristSPro has interviewed Mr. Bonati, and... more

The tactile quality of any jewelry or sculpture is absolutely essential to both fully enjoying it and fully understanding it. Hence..Bulgari is a MUST touch, more than a MUST SEE. I never fully appreciated, and I cannot yet fully understand ..but I do know..that Bulgari has mastered the touch, the tactile feel of a GREAT work. You must have had this feeling before..the watch looks great but feels..???. The Bulgari's do not have any question marks left for any prospective admirer...Rolex ... more

This year's FPJ Annual Exhibition was indeed a treat and certainly worth the trip from Hong Kong. As all of you know already, this year Francois Paul introduced his ultra slim minute repeater which features two mainspring barrels in parrallel, linear escapement with 15 tooth escape wheel, a balance wheel with 4x variable inertia weights and an anachron free-sprung flat balance spring. The movement height is only 4mm with a diameter of 31.6mm. The case size is 40mm and is in stainless steel. The sound... more

Yesterday, I had the big pleasure to visit the Genta Shop in Paris. I was perfectly welcomed by Caroline and Laure, as always ! I took the opportunity to shoot several Arena watches. Here is the Arena Tourbillon QP Moonphases : The Tourbillon is not visible due to the fact that the dial is already very busy ! Very busy but very clear. My only regret is that the date system should have been easier. The platinum case has a 41mm diameter and a palladium bezel. The finishings are gre... more

Chopard's Grand Prix Historique de Monaco Series Another Prestigious & Exceptional Range of Racing Watches for Passionate Enthusiasts Background The Grand Prix Historique was started by Michel Boeri ( President of Automobile Club of Monaco) in 1997. His original intention was simple - to organise a one-off vintage car race as part of the commemorative celebrations of the 700th anniversary of Monaco's ruling family, the Grimaldis. However the response was tremendous. The drivers and collectors of... more

it's not always about the getting the latest and greatest is it? so much hype and marketing baloney ramming all kinds of timekeeping monstrosities into our consciousness... of course there are nice watches too but have you seen what they are going for these days? prices have been on the up and up for the past couple of years with no signs of stopping... fear not though, there are actually a lot of interesting watches out there with cool movements that won't cost you an arm and a leg... no they weren't on... more

I've often wondered what those high-flying investment bankers and analysts do with their 'disposable income'. Their stratospheric individual nett worth is the stuff of legend. Those apocryphal tales of boozy lunches in the City with half-cases of Ch. Pomerol 1982 and Ch.Margaux 1983 or about 2 guys outbidding each other for a FP Journe Vagabondage and breaking the world record seem too fantastic to be true. One day, I found myself the only non-bank employee at a little get-together su... more

The post on the Seamaster in the wild reminded me of a brief article I once wrote on the Aqua Terra's performance during a trip through the Sahara desert. I could not find that article neither here, nor on the thePuristS site, and considered it lost. However, a search via Google produced some links to it, and it apparently is buried somewhere among the old materials of the PuristS, but not here at PuristSPro.If you don't mind, I would like to republish it here:In 2002, I had the opportunity to test some wat... more
