Photogenic Chronographs

Feb 25, 2016,22:45 PM

At long last, I managed to ask my friend Ogygia to take some proper pictures of my 'new' additions. Here are some (marvelous IMO) pictures of the Harmony Monopusante Chronograph and the Cornes de Vache 1955. Which one do you prefer?

Hope you enjoyed them.

Sam

Without the power reserve at 6, I would have hard time trying to find a fav.

So, Cornes de Vache for me... That one is Exquisite! I will post my review later, but I was convinced, and tempted. Best, and bravo for getting both! Nicolas

Comes as no surprise to me Nico :)

My only reservation is that it uses an old Lemania movement and is quite heftily priced Best Sam

It is hefty in price but still an in-house made movement and only for this piece used, if I ma not wrong.

And the Cornes de Vache is more classically sized. A favourite! Thanks for the great shots. Best Moritz

In house, not sure... since Vacheron uses a Lemania ebauche if I got it right.

A Lemania Ebauche, re worked by Vacheron. Best, Nicolas

Sorry, I'm confused...

You say "it's in-house as the Swatch Group acquired Roger Debuis who held the patent over this movement". But Vacheron Constantin is not a part of Swatch but Richmond. How does that make it "in-House"? Best, Kari

I like a Skoda Superb, I lke a Bentley Mulsane, I lke a Lambo, I like Scirocco ...

... I like a Ferrari 599 and I like a Fiat 500. I do not see any difference in them ... maybe the price tag? Same with watches. Best Moritz

Same with me,

I like them all. But at least Ferrari makes much more noise and consumes much more than Fiat 500. That's a good reason to pay more. Plus the 2nd hand value is higher. Best, Kari

Really....made me feel better :)

Yes, it is very comfortable on the wrist. Best Sam

Are you kidding, hefty price for you? It's not even half of the 1815 tourby of yours...:))

Cornes de vache for sure! I love everything in this one: the design is perfect IMHO (case, dial, proportions...), the movement is obviously not new but a wonderful and reliable one nicely reworked by VC, and platinum is for sure an excellent choice! In ot...

battle by a KO I agree - the Harmony is not a modest watch and pretty hard to wear. Best Sam

Cornes de Vache for me.

Hands down. The classical looks, those blued hands, the tachymeter scale, the pushers. To me, this represents one of the most beautiful chronograph designs in recent decades. Not to take anything away from the Harmony, but I am a bit biased there since it...

Another vote for the Cornes de Vache....

which does not surprise me at all. I agree it is flawlessly designed and very pleasing to the eyes. On a side note, it is also better than the Overseas Chronograph, which feels rather hard on the wrist. Regards, Sam

Sorry, didn't mean to sound harsh.

But the Corne de Vache is simply amazing to me. An absolute stunner.

Cornes without any doubt

Great pictures indeed

I think the pictures of the Harmony are even a little better than the 1955's (maybe more light and the color combination in the Harmony is fantastic). As for the watches, I like the original decoration and style of the Harmony but I think I would prefer t...

Absolutely Mark

The Harmony was a 'love in first sight' for me but the love dies down quite quickly. The Cornes de Vache, on the other hand, is an elegant piece that gradually grows on me. I picked it on top of several Lange chronographs and I suspect I will treasure it ...

Cornes fa Vache for me

A perfectly seducing watch imo. Pity I am not into chronos. All the very best, Alex

Honestly Alex, I don't know why I am drawn by chronos

For sure they are not easy to produce but the truth is - I rarely use the function... Best Sam

I know what you mean Sam

I used to focus mainly on chronos, more than 15 years ago. I just liked them being a crazy petrolhead. But as the years went by, I realised I don\'t use them, so I focused on time-only pieces or other complications. But if I would buy one, the Cornes de V...

Prefer CDV by far, but regarding your comments about Lemania

I have to agree... and it is one of the aspects that gives me hesitation about this utterly stunning, truly crazy-beautiful watch... as you mentioned, the price relative to the movement... It bothers me that there are Les Historiques out there with the sa...

Very well said Mostel

I cannot agree more with what you said, or elaborated... Best Sam

Cornes de Vache it is, for me no question

 By: Ammerix : April 8th, 2016-08:19
In fact I just ordered one to come in the autumn! It should be interesting to see, feel, wear - and of course push - how well the CdeV gets along with the PP 5170G-010 (black dial). They may have to fight it out among themselves. Both get blown away by th...

Good to hear from you! Got your pm but could not respond with a pm to you back. I must say: the VC that you are awaiting is really cool! Saw it recently and was very impressed by it. It is a very sensible addition to your already great line up of chronos,...

Glad to be re-connected!

I went back to my ac-Count and clicked on the little box for accepting private messages. So you can try again! There is so much that I would like to explain in detail. Both the DS and the PLM are now working perfectly and have been restored to even-better...
