Historiques Cornes de vache 1955

Feb 12, 2017,07:33 AM

I couldn't resist this.  Stainless steel, grey dial, pulsometer, and oh, those lugs!   And yes, a very restrained 38.5mm diameter and a relatively svelte 10.9mm thickness. I've been waiting for something like this from the major Maisons, so kudos to VC for taking the bold leap into thoughtful restraint in partnership with Hodinkee.

You'll agree the movement is not shabby either.  Beautiful finish with very fine workmanship and attention to detail. Free sprung balance, 21,000 BPH, Maltese cross capping the column wheel.
This VC Calibre 1142 is modified from the venerable Lemania 2310. Nothing wrong with that for a piece that captures the essence of the 1950s beautifully, even if the grey dial is a modern flourish.

I love how the pieces have come together into a spectacular whole on this one.

I hope you enjoyed the images, even if they are not up to the standards of what we are used to seeing here.

The beard, the belly....right now he's likely getting ready for the next Xmas, that's why he's been dressing casual. Thank you, I believe again in miracles. )))) P.s. still no way to add some nice emoticons

Is it where you send your wish list to?

I am what you might call a slow adopter, so you generally won't find me ordering the latest pieces. Rarely impulsive and almost never a slave to limited or boutique edition hype. This watch checked all the boxes I was looking for and I happened to time th...

Glad you like it

But if I had the money, I'd always go for platinum or gold. I understand some of the reasons behind this LE, the steel is always the rarest (or even never) option available, but at those price tags I like to feel the weight of precious metals.

sure me too and this is why I didn't buy it..

but I am really happy for these that got one. Well done. Wonderful watch.

Watch is superb. Period! But are you actually telling me that you got the watch on wrist that was officially presented like 72 hrs ago and sold out in 30mins without pre-sale? Cordially D

All I did was post pictures of the watch. I'm no trying to tell you anything other than the fact that I like the watch. If it tickles you to speculate on the sale process, that's your prerogative, but please don't drag me into into it. Like I said, I'm no...

Thank you very much for the answer it was very clear about sale process.

I have just committed to another piece for my birthday so the timing wasn't right for me Given that the steel was well priced (vs the Gold or Platinum) I would have also gone with it if I was free but as a rule I have to enjoy first my new incoming Oh and...

May i ask you if you really get the watch through the web application?

I'm already aware that it's also a matte of privacy, so feel free to say NO ;-) There are some debates about this LE However, a nice watch.

Beautiful watch.

My furry friend wondering why I'm staring at my wrist. The dial color is difficult to capture. It looks black in the photograph, but is dark grey. ...

Congratulations, HoroTraveler
