Ulysse Nardin has just unveiled the Diver Le Locle

Just saw this picture on IG:

It is not surprising to see this neo retro design since it is a global trend... and also a trend for Ulysse Nardin this year. I prefer diver watches with big central second hand but I survive with the small second hand of my Cartier Calibre Diver. So I believe it would be the same with this one!

Feels out of proportions

the hands, the lume and the small seconds, somehow it is not right. Don't quite understand UN for releasing this watch. They have a strong diver model, the Maxi Marine that is both great looking and commercially successful, so why this vintage-inspired re...

Disappointing

I can't see anything in this watch that would deserve a second look. Not sure if this is a tribute to some vintage watch in the UN portfolio, but in any case a very bland effort from a brand that is known for their original, standout creations

I lost the two live pictures I took of this watch. So, I will just add my comments.

This Diver is 42, 2 mm big, which is not a problem, to me, since it is a tool watch. Now, if we compare it to the original, the original had a central second, which is, in m opinion, more interesting than the small second, for a diving watch, I mean. AND....

I like it too!! It seems that the original had both the ..

date and automatic...see photo..umh... really special what do you think ? I don't mind the date so may be I should consider it ...

Sort of an odd bird overall. Much to like, but with some deal breakers.

The date of course, we all agree on that. Why do manufacturers always feel compelled to add the word AUTOMATIC on the dial? Was it was on the original in the same spot? And in this case, what was the discussion in the UN design room? "Um, this dial really...

I like this watch! [nt]

Not really sure...

UN generally has a very bold design language - most of their modern watches are hardly going to be described as stealthy, under the radar, etc. Maybe this is an attempt to lure customers into the fold that found their normal designs too modern or provocat...

I think this is an April Fools Day design

that got lost and appeared late - yet Nico says he saw it in person ... hmm

It has been shown...

But not really written about much until a couple of days ago. The embargo that is not one, I guess

My two cents...

Without rehashing the date debate, or need for dubious automatic labeling, here are my short and sweet thoughts: There is some charm in its clunkiness. But, at 9600 Swiss Francs and only 100m water resistance, this watch becomes an overpriced fashion piec...

Thanks, Nicolas. As a contrast with this UN attempt,

I think Seiko did a fine job for a real tool watch re-make with the SLA017, formerly the 1965 62Mas: photo from monochrome watches on the web. Increased WR from 150 to 200; modest size increase to 40 mm; new screw-down crown; faithful dial and case execut...

I saw a side shot of the case elsewhere and loved it

Quite thinner than I would have guessed. I don't know, the artwork photos make it look "quirky", but in the flesh, I have a feeling it will be much nicer.
