Mini-GTG in Switzerland: Visiting the Omega Museum...

Jul 15, 2007,13:53 PM

A couple months ago, I noticed 'Speedy MK IV' posting pictures of his new Omega Seamaster Pro. 2254 along with a very smart Omega America's Cup cap.  I thought I'd drop him a PM and the next thing I knew, he sourced one for me and it was in the post.

When I realised that I would be finding myself in Geneva for a while, I contacted Gerhard and we ended up deciding to meet @ 9am on the 10th of July near Cornavin for a cup of coffee.  We then later strolled down Rue du Montblanc toward the Mandarin where Omegamania was held...for more coffee!

After covering all the watch shops along Rue du Montblanc, and after the coffee we made our way across the bridge towards Franck Muller and Vacheron Constantin; we then proceeded past Bel-Air along Rue du Rhone to the Omega boutique,

I was blown away at how friendly and 'homely' it felt to visit the Omega boutique in comparison to my experience at Bucherer on Friday.  It was getting a bit late and we were hungry so we decided to visit Sushi Train,

We spent the rest of the afternoon at the Patek Philip museum, and I've decided to go there again soon, as there is so much to cover, my head was spinning by the time we finished - it was simply astonishing!Another round of coffee @ Cornavin and we parted for the day, to meet next morning in Bern, which is under a massive overhaul,

Gerhard had organised a special meeting with the Omega boutique in bern, where we had a lot of fun and I had the pleasure of completely falling in love with the Hour Vision!

For over a couple months I have been searching for a 'dress' piece; something in rose gold and something utterly elegant.  The Hour Vision is not only exquisite but very comfortable to wear, poses an astounding new movement that also allows one to adjust the hour hand, GMT style, independently without interrupting the running minutes and seconds hands.I have decided to make this the next addition to my collection, and probably the exact same model as seen on my wrist.

Renata was very kind and showered us with gifts.  Not only did we get a very cool Omega lapel pin but also a Victorinox Swiss Army penknife with Omega branding and a caseback opener as well as the usual long blade, and tons of catalogues and books.

We then proceeded to leave for Biel/Bienne and stopped for some lunch,

...and we then arrived at our destination!

Together we took around 300 photos so without much ado please feel free to browse through the gallery via the link below,

Mini-GTG Switzerland, July 2007

All images marked 'DSC' were taken by myself and 'IMG' are the ones shot by Gerhard.  We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Racine who was loads of fun to chat with.  Both of us found our fathers watches on display - which was pretty cool as well!I hope you enjoy this photo journal of two fabulous days.  I can not thank Gerhard enough - it was a great pleasure meeting him and I'm sure we'll be doing a few more trips in the weeks to come!
