A look at the 2007 Cvstos watches

I covered the Cvstos Pagani Zonda F chronograph in my SIHH and Geneva report, but was unable to get photos of the other new watches for 2007. I've finally received the press kit and here are the photos.

Cvstos introduced the Challenge T-S (Tourbillon Sport) this year. It's an eye-catching flying tourbillon with the tourbillon cage in red anodised aluminium. Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of watchmaking, but it's the first time I'm seeing a red tourbillon cage and it is very striking. From the photos I'd guess the movement is from BNB Concepts, the same specialist firm which creates tourbillons for Hublot, amongst others.

Another complication is the QP-S (Quantieme Perpetuelle Sport), a perpetual calendar that is based on an ETA 2892, judging from the distinctive rotor - nothing extraordinary here.

The Pagani Zonda F chronograph wasn't the only supercar themed watch of 2007, Cvstos also created another limited edition, for Ferrari. It is to commemorate the Modena Cars Racing team (also sponsored by Cvstos) that won the 2006 Ferrari Challenge F430 season; Modena Cars is Geneva's Ferrari retailer.

Although Cvstos is most recognised for its aesthetic similarity to Richard Mille, it offers attractive designs in a wholly different price range. The watches are well made and finished, and the tonneau Challenge case sits very well on the wrist. In all honesty, between the entry level RM005/010 and a Cvstos, I'd pick the latter. It offers much of the same look - it IS all about the look - for a lot less money.

I've yet to see a Cvstos in person and am curious to see how they compare in quality to RM

The finish on Cvstos ("custos" - Latin for time keeper) watches is almost entirely either black PVD or sandblasted metal. But for the look they try to achieve, they do it quite well. I think a good comparison is between RM005/010, in terms of movement fin...

good finishing

Yes, I have same opinion as SJX. The finishing of CVSTOS is very good for their price . I think CVSTOS will raise their price when brand is more well-known. But I like the size of watch , It seem the case is too thick .
