A watch you won't see quite often, celebrating 25 years of history on each dial

Feb 04, 2007,06:10 AM

Dear crazymates,

I should not really qualify as rare a watch that I’ve seen twice in the same year, as I’ve had a Rolex Sub only once in my hands in 2006.

Still this watch is not a common bird and you probably won’t see it often.

We won’t get very technical yet as our encounters have been fast. Hopefully I’ll get deeper access later on to bring you more.

Reverso Grande Complication a triptyque, the best is hidden inside

This model is already in the last issued JLC catalog so you already know much about it.

Slip it and you get the universe in front of you, where on the left, when on the right

Don’t ask me about zodiacal symbols, this time doesn’t exist in my dimension

I know you’ll get better pics in the catalog

But you won’t get my wrist in the catalog

Yes it’s a watch for real men

There’s probably not much room left inside

The dial is quite clean and nice looking IMO

The size is IMO the only negative aspect of the watch. If you can stand the size it’s a lot of content here. But still I could wear a Gyrotourbillon I would not wear this one. It seems that sometimes technical aspects put the styling to the boundaries.

Don’t worry it’s big but Joel Cordier is not playing with a real scale model here

Let’s have a look at the “isometer escapement”

All these models are prototypes so we are not looking for top notch finish here, but just for technical bits that may help us forget the size.

Please ask questions but don’t hope for immediate answers because I still have to talk to the creators (specially for yours questions Tim).

You’ve already seen that in all magazines

One of the most expensive seconds hand in the world

Very exclusive pic of the keyless works

This escapement is free-sprung and you can see the square regulating screws here on the balance wheel

They now have four different tourbillon base movements in the range

The first JLC tourbillon with a flat balance spring

I hope you enjoyed the pics. As this watch should be getting closer to production now we may hopefully get a deeper access soon.

Hi, You don't know my wrist obviously, I'm more suited for 90s watches. At least at this price point I have no regret for the size. But I remember that last year during SIHH ThomasM tried it on and found it at his size. Again if you have the wrist.... Che...

Good report

Apology for the belated thumbs up for your photos and the report. I have a smallish 6.5 inch wrist too and really struggle to carry off my SS Rev Grande Date but i'm willing to overlook this to get it. Congrat to anyone who can acquire this masterpiece an...

Yikes!

I'm afraid I have to agree. The lugs go over the horizon line! Where does this 'bigger is better' trend end? JLC would have been the LAST company I'd have expected to produce Hummers! As a feat of watchmaking it's incredible. It deserves to be displayed a...

Yes Elliot I understand your point. For me also it is more of a show watch. That?s not my watch of JLC obviously. But still it deserves some real interest and I know that some have more than mere interest. Dje

Of Course!

I don't mean to sound judgemental about that stuff; it's just that like most of us here, I am very passionate (and opinionated!) regarding our preferred JLC's! I only wish that it weren't necessary to discontinue so many of our classic favorites in order ...

Thanks Jacky....

Technically as well as physically. A monument to the house of Jaeger-LeCoultre, no doubt. Thanks for the photos Jerome, I especially appreciate the wristshot. - SJX

. . .give me cake. Every day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I love this watch. LOVE it. A lot. Jack, not on the fence about the watch

Almost as big as my Panerai

I didn't notice the picture. I have already started my quest for this big watch. Bill...
