The Richard Mille RM015 – first photos of the GMT Ocean Racing Watch!

Jan 30, 2007,11:39 AM

So… I received this phone call from a friend who was going to be at the local RM dealer and told me to ‘just bring your camera’!  What was so important?  The RM012’s would not be ready for a month or so (at least), so what was so important?

What was so important? The dealer had a RM015 (not even seen in mock up yet) along with a RM014 and a RM003!!  Oh yes, it was a good day!

Without any more blah, blah from yours truly, some pictures of the newest RM to sail the waves.  Note how the reconfiguration of the torque indicator to a more efficient location on the RM014 has paid dividends in allowing the GMT indicator function to be reallocated to a more logical position (in my mind). For your viewing pleasure: the first shots of the RM015:

And on the wrist:

Personally, I love the change to the function indicator.  The polished elements make the functions more visible.  What is also not so visible in the photos (my apologies here as the light was less than ideal) is that more of the base plate is cut away and hence more of the movement is visible over the RM003.

A bonus of being at the dealer allowed me to take comparison shots of the RM015 with the RM014, RM003 and also an RM002. Compared with the RM003: (front) Compared with the RM003: (back) Compared with the RM014: And, as I could not resist, photographing th...

A magnificent 'scoop' and thank you very much for putting it to air. Given that wrist-shot, though, it looks as if major surgery may be necessary to correct the orientation of your arm! Regards, pplater.

WOW! Thanks for the scoop Andrew. Even though I find that

the new GMT function kind of clutters everything (I was about to say dial but there isn't really one is there? )

Seven Seas Ocean Racing watches….

Seeing the two watches together made me wistful for the sailing in Sardinia and the Perini Navi Cup. Here were two superlatives battling it out on the ocean for supremacy. Photographing the two super watches side by side, I could not help think back…. Tha...

I'm surprised how different the RM015 looks, compared to the RM014, despite them being much them same. Great scoop by the way. - SJX

Thanks for the pics!

I still don't really like the whole line, but I'm glad they switched back to the function selector. I can't wait to see this one in person. It looks a bit like a busy mess in the pictures but I'm sure in person it all makes sense.

Thanks Andrew!

What a treat! I like the 002 more than the 003, but I seem to like the 015 more than the 014 just from the pics.

You really transported me onboard those vessels in some way. The vessels just look stupendous and I wished somehow I could be on board those yachts! The great photographs are made when it transports the viewer just as a good book does. Your photos really ...
