TAG Heuer racks up another International Award

The Monaco Calibre 360 LS Concept Chronograph wins the prestigious iF Design Award 2007!

TAG Heuer is proud to announce that the prestigious International Forum Design jury has awarded the Monaco Calibre 360 LS (Linear Second) Concept Chronograph the coveted iF product design award for 2007.

The iF product design jury is an assembly of leading-edge design experts from around the world. Organized by the International Forum Design Hannover GMBH in Hanover, Germany, the coveted iF awards are given to the best designs in a number of fields of disciplines. First introduced in 1953, it is an unparalleled trademark for the finest in innovative and avant-garde product design.

The superlative, all-mechanical Monaco Calibre 360 LS Concept Chronograph accurate at the 1/100 of a second, won in the Leisure/Lifestyle category. Chosen from a slate of over 2,200 products from 35 countries, it marks the second time in two years that a TAG Heuer watch has won the prestigious award.

The TAG Heuer Professional Golf Watch, co-designed with Tiger Woods, won the iF Design Award for 2006 in the same category.

After winning on November 9, the “Grand Prix de l’Horlogerie de Genève” with the all-mechanical Carrera Calibre 360 Limited Edition accurate at the 1/100 of a second in the category Sports Watch, TAG Heuer demonstrates once again with this new award its endless creativity and cutting-edge design Avant Garde!

Unveiled last April at Baselworld 2006, the exciting Monaco Calibre 360 LS Concept Chronograph represents the next evolutionary phase of TAG Heuer’s Calibre 360 chronograph movement: this unique mechanical movement is the first ever in the history of watch making to reach an undisputed precision of 1/100 of a second and features a Linear Second for the permanent second, another world first!

Inspired by the revolutionary Monaco V4, square-faced and in classic Monaco blue and red, the dial-less chronograph uses meticulously hand-finished engine bridges to reveal the critical functions: an “oversized” 1/100 of a second chronograph counter exterior to the chronograph engine; a 15-minute chronograph counter embedded in the engine, a 100-minute power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock and a linear second indicator at 3 o’clock, both embedded.

True to the original yet resolutely contemporary, the Monaco Calibre 360 LS sports a highly faceted polished steel case and a curved sapphire crystal glass with case-integrated facets. The detailing is also unique: protective sleeves for chronograph push buttons and fully integrated rubber with massive folding buckle and safety push buttons. With 7 metal finishings for the bridges, it is effortlessly easy-to-read, and the 2 square sapphire crystal windows on the case back provide a beautiful perspective on its movement. A stunning piece!

The prizewinning chronograph will be on exhibit at the iF design exhibition 2007 in Hanover, Germany, from March 15 till August 2007.
