Admiral?s Cup Competition 48

The year 2006 forcefully heralds a new era for the famous Admiral?s Cup collection by CORUM through the complete renewal of its design as displayed in the recently launched oversized Admiral?s Cup Competition 48 model.

The rigorous style of the titanium case is entirely in keeping with the sophisticated futuristic keel of the impressive modern sailboats or motor-yachts, sharply defined by clear-cut angles. The distinctive twelve-sided case design of the Admiral?s Cup line has been retained and even enhanced by a superb touch of technological refinement. The anti-reflective sapphire crystal is also cut to mirror the twelve facets while maintaining perfect water-resistance to a depth of 30 atmospheres (990 feet/300 meters). A substantial time-setting crown, easy both to grip and turn, is set into a vulcanized rubber lateral case extension, thus ensuring optimal protection of this critical component. The screw-down feature reinforces water-resistance.

The hour, minute, small second, day and date movement functions are entirely integrated. The voluminous Caliber 8235, created by La Joux Perret on a Valjoux base, is currently considered as one of the world?s most reliable movements. The tried and tested accuracy of this mechanism reinforces the natural rugged look of the remarkable watch case in titanium, a material that is as strong as steel but considerably lighter and more comfortable to wear. In addition, titanium?s high corrosion-resistance to sea water makes it a perfect choice for the Admiral?s Cup line.

The broad dial follows the characteristic twelve-sided shape and features the colourful nautical pennants arranged as hour-markers around its dial ring. The minute numerals, as well as the hour, minute and second hands, are luminescent and stand out handsomely against the matte black or blue dial base. Seconds are displayed in a small off-centered compass styled subdial at 9 o?clock and the day and date appear through a twin aperture at 3 o?clock.

Its robust and comfortable water-resistant strap in vulcanized rubber is secured by a sturdy titanium buckle. This style was chosen specifically for easy resizing so the watch can be worn on the outside of a jacket during harsh weather conditions.

Resolutely geared towards sporting values and designed to face up to the most extreme moments of high-level racing rivalry, the Admiral?s Cup Competition 48 powerfully asserts CORUM?s determination to remain firmly at the head of the fleet.
