Grand Seiko SBGJ021

When the 9S86 (HiBeat GMT) was released, the Grand Seiko SBGJ005 had impressed with its green dial with its special texture and its rotor treated by anodic oxidation.
The 005 was the most beautiful in the SBGJ001 / 003/005 serie.
It was awarded at  2014 edition of the GPHG, and brand collectors demand it.
Limited Edition, only 600 pieces, so it is rather rare and has generated many frustrations.

The Morioka factory released the SBGJ021 in 2016, probably for those who did not have the chance to acquire a 005.

You all know that the inspiration of many GS L.E. dials comes from the observation of nature.
The green dial of the 005 is an evocation of the foliage of the trees that are on the flanks of Mount Iwate in summer.
The dial of the 021 finds its inspiration in the same place, but in autumn.
I was in Morioka last fall, and I was quite surprised by the color of the trees on the road to SII.

The day after, when I saw SBGJ021 for the first time at Seiko Premium Boutique, I understood where this very special color came from

The 021 shares the same technical parts with 005: caliber, case, bracelet, hour markers, polished and brushed dauphine hands.
It differs from the 005 by its dial and its rotor.
So I'm not going to make a detailed review of the 021.
But the dial of the 021 is so impressive that I took many pictures in different lighting conditions.
This dial is so stunning, and it's color variations areso fascinating that and I just want to share some pictures with you Seikoholics.
I guess this could be a good place to do so smile

021 vs 005

In the darkness the color tone is even more interesting ...

Summer vs Autumn

I think SBGJ001 is inspired by Winter ...

I hope there will be special dial dedicated to Spring.
Then, we will have the complete 4 seasons interpretation by Shizuki-Ishi Watch Studio smile
