The pull of heavy metal

All — i have developed an inexplicable attraction to the platinum Day Date — the traditional 36 mm version with glacier dial. I am resisting this attraction because the watch costs more than a nice car, and it doesn’t have the finishing or horological significance of other watches at its price point. But the pull of this watch is undeniable — and it is a literal pull, in the sense that it pulls your arm down heavily towards the earth, which is oddly part of its attraction for me. Does anyone else here have the same strange attraction to this particular model? All else held equal (including price), would any of you buy it as your only modern Rolex?

I have modern Rolex watches but I do not think I will only buy this one and stop buying other modern Rolex watches. Baxter

Thanks — let me reframe the question:

Suppose someone in authority said: “you may own only one modern Rolex, but you can have it for free.” Would anyone choose a PT DD? I’m guessing that few here would choose that model, but am curious to know whether anyone here would seriously consider it f...

Yes, I would definitely choose it!

Here my 36mm WG version, which I wore for more than 15 years. Sold it for the DD40. But still love it and sometimes I wonder if I should have kept it.... If your heart and your wallet say yes, than go for it. Life is too short. All the best, Thomas ...

Very sweet DD!

Sorry you didn’t hold onto it long enough to sell it to me!
