Rolex 5508 4 Line from 1962

Oct 17, 2016,02:21 AM

I have a latest obsession with early Submariners, especially the small crown ones.

Cannot argue that the Big Crown is fantastic. It has great presence on the wrist.

But there's something charming about small crown Submariner. Thinner case with smaller crown makes it more elegant and refined.

After an early 1958 5508, I found this , probably one of the last 5508 from 1962.

It has a 4 line dial which means this one is equipped with chronometer grade movement , hence the 4 line.. And I believe it's only produced in 1962.

And it's funny how it found me, I missed the deal initially but few weeks later, it found its way to me

Oh.. And almost forgot.. It's brown smile

I still don't think I'm finished with small crowns.. Still hoping to find more in the future

Best regards,

Sam

What a dial! Yes, I think you are right with the production year of the 5508 4 lines. Bravo. Nicolas

Thanks Nicolas..

I was looking for a slightly unusual variant, like the 4 line.. And to find one with such dial really is a bonus.. Thanks again for your kind word and support!

Stunning

A 4 line 5508 is always nice to see and hardly available in the market Cheers Sam

Which endlinks ?

 By: Philippe : October 24th, 2016-17:54
Hello, What a beautiful 5508 ! Could you please tell me which endlinks are on this bracelet? Or just take a picture of the back case (with the bracelet). I'm looking for new endlinks for my 5508 and those seems to be a perfect fit. Thanks

Hi Phillipe..

I believe a correct one would be 64 end link with 7206 or 6636 bracelet. But an 80 end link would also be fine.. On the picture it was on 80 end link and 7206 bracelet, but I've recently found a nice 64 end link with stretch 6636 bracelet. Hope this helps...
