A compilation of Tudor 7924 aka Big Crown.

Nov 20, 2016,07:44 AM

The 7924 is not a reference we see every day, here or there. For a good reason: The production numbers are quite low. It is said that only 200 were made at the end of 1958, I would say much more, but still, not that many, compared to the 7928 / 7016 / 94010 and 94110.

Let's see those I could find on the net or in the real life.

7924 100 meters dial, 275 6xx:

275 667: Antiquorum:

275 674:

275 679:

275 705:

275 xxx By Matteo:

292 xxx:

292 xxx by Jatuka:

Another 292 xxx ( credit picture unknown ) :

293 111:

293 xxx Credit picture: Fourtane:

293 090 ( Auction house, but I don't remember which one )

293 xxx Credit picture: The Vintage Concept.

7924 ARA 61 186 by Submariner:

7924 ARA 61 191:

And 61 193: ( Antiquorum ) :

These 2 " ARA " are coming with a 293 xxx Serial Number.

As for the case backs, what I could notice is:

A sterile case back in the 275 XXX series:

Engraved in the 292 xxx and...

293 xxx series:

Same big " Brevet " crown  and movement ( Cal 390 ).

Please feel free to add yours!

Best,

Nicolas

There are some versions which you will have big time finding it, such as the ARA.

But a nice 7924 is not impossible to find. A matter of time, patience, and, of course money. Still far from the 6538 in terms of finances.

Finding an ARA would be like touching the sky for me, you know! Regrettably...

I know, I know. They are top rare. I only saw one in the flesh, same than the one you saw, and 4 or 5 in pictures.

And a newbie question here, is that I have always thought these early Tudors come with Rolex movement. But on the post there I saw it with Tudor movement. So is it the same movement only rebranded Tudor or they do have their own movement since the very be...
