What to do when a watch ticks all boxes?

When it comes to really liking a watch, I am often a bit of an enfant terrible.

There is always something that I do not like.
Especially watches in the mid price category probably need to be ‘commercial’ nowadays.
The sweep seconds is something where I am not a great fan of, I prefer much more none or a sub seconds,
a cut out date window I dislike in most cases and the word AUTOMATIC on the dial, is something that gives
me sleepless nights.
I never understood why it is not engraved on the back.
The new Polo has it all, so I was very disappointed that it was released, but let's not go into that.

I often looked at the 'Piaget Upstream', a  niche watch that is so much better build and designed.
But it still has a date and a sweep seconds, what probably made me decide not to purchase it when they
were still available. So when I discovered the, now 15 years old, limited edition version (100pc),
with salmon dial, sub seconds and no date window, it was a no brainer.
MTF wrote an excellent review about the watch, I think it was in 2009
Have a great weekend gents, let me know what you think of the Upstream in general!

Without the date, and with this superb salmon dial, I must say that it is pretty convincing.

The only thing which I don't like that much is the bracelet, but I think you can easily solve that.... Bravo!!! All the best, my friend. Nicolas

Hi Nico, do you mean the look of it or the way it opens

since that is indeed very different. But the construction is well done.

This bracelet remind me of the Royal Oak Grande tapisserie. Funny. Best wishes Alkiro

A really cool watch there. Lovely dial, good masculine case and bracelet. I believe the salmon dial makes the watch less serious and harsh looking. Good catch!

I agree with you

The salmon dial makes the watch less serious and more special. Almost as nice as the RO with salmon dial. LOL!

They do not make them that way anymore...

I find your choice very convincing. It was a breath of fresh air back in the day, with lots of ingenious design details and some cool construction features, too. Your version without the date and with the salmon dial is simply superb!

Thank you, you are right

when you said that they don't make them that way anymore. It is indeed very well made and it was, if I am right, Piaget's first steel wrist watch that was produced on a larger scale. The fact that Piaget now launched the new Polo in all steel, is actually...
