5976 different angle shots (pics heavy!)

Jan 14, 2017,02:58 AM

So as promised, here are a few more shots of the 5976 under different light angles. The first thing I noticed is how much more heft this one has got compared to the other SS nautiluses, even to a 5990.

The diamond batons dance playfully under different light angles and especially true under direct light. Dial is a brighter blue than 5711 blue dial that changes color depending on how light hits it.

In person, this piece towers any other Nautiluses in size. The white gold has a slight pink yellowish look to it and next to an SS is warmer looking with more pronounced brushed finish on its bezel, very similar to brushed finish of AP RO bezel.

Overall, this watch has got more presence than previous Nautiluses, being wider and flatter than a 5990 yet at almost the same height it photographs to be similar size. I tried many different angles and still in pic they look almost the same size due again to the height. The only telling difference will be the extra width.

On a different note, I purchased this brand new and sealed from Patek AD in Nov but just got the watch today. I was ecstatic after having waited for so long. However, when I unsealed the watch, I was very disappointed with the condition. There are lots of fine scratches on the few links around the clasp and visible scratch on bezel near the crown.

The watch in all honesty looks like it has been used before. Now, I'm not a stickler who inspects watch under 10x mag to look for scratches. These are very obvious scratches from use. Immediately I sent an email with complaint to AD and demand for an explanation and compensation for this unacceptable treatment. I paid full retail value for an unused and sealed watch and what I got is, at best near mint watch.

We will see what the response is from AD, as either this was a display piece or a used piece. Very disappointing given that I bought 4 Pateks alone last year and have plans to spend more this year.

Stunning pictures.

I love the way the dial changes colour and the diamonds add something a little special. Let us know what the AD says, they certainly look like they could be marks from the piece being worn and the nature of them to me suggests it didn\'t leave the factory...

This is a really serious issue.

 By: Chimaera : January 14th, 2017-04:27
I\'m sorry for your experience, but this has wide implications and you may choose to raise this with PP direct because, either way, there is a reputation killing problem here. Either: (I) PP\'s vaunted QC processes have fallen short and require urgent att...

Hi Chimera. Those are good points I would bring up with the AD.

 By: CaptainCrunch : January 14th, 2017-04:42
Certainly very disappointing and disturbing the way they treat a good customer this way. I have never had such problems before and there is no way I would damage a watch this way. It has got even more scratches than both my year old Nautiluses. I would se...

I never had this issue before but this indeed is very disappointing.

One would balk to notice a scratch on a brand new $200 seiko. Here is a 100k watch. One or two micro scratch is fine. This looks like it has been worn and dragged across table.

Re: I never had this issue before but this indeed is very disappointing.

 By: Azzsi : January 15th, 2017-16:38
Can you post pics of where the watch shows wear and looks like its been dragged across the table ? Based on the pics posted it looks brand new.

Totally unacceptable !!!!

 By: Azzsi : January 16th, 2017-14:20
AD should have cut the blue security seal of the box carton box in front of you. Then the vacuumed sealed plastic in front to you as well. Seems to me the AD and not PP should be held accountable for the scratches. I am very sorry to hear this happens. Ho...

I am not sure of the packaging either

 By: jonrus : January 16th, 2017-19:43
I have seen the packaging on the watch above, but not so sure about the packaging below. Perhaps our moderator can bring some input.

Definitely was resealed

I would call out by name this AD so other forum members could beware of their practices. Was it an actual Patek AD or a secondary dealer. Shame on them if it was an actual Patek AD and Geneva should be advised!

You're right tobe suspicious

By: Mark in Paris : January 17th, 2017-06:22
I think that now this has to be dealt between you, your AD and I think the brand's headquarters in Geneva (you directly). Once it is done, you'll have the real positioning of everybody and be able to know what has happened (maybe) but at least know how yo...

The blue dials are wonderful

This is the kind of dial I love from Patek (though not attracted that much by the other blue ones aside from the Nautilus collection). Thanks for sharing, I think we are lucky to see as many here For your problem, as I mentionned in the other post, it is ...

Something is funny...

First of all, I am sorry to hear about your problem. An AD is not allowed to sell the watch in the factory packing. They are supposed to open the watch in the shop and inspect it. Please also note that any AD having service facilities can also "re-seal" a...

Well that still wouldn't explain all the scratches

 By: CaptainCrunch : January 14th, 2017-05:30
For a 100k watch I think they should have disclosed that information. I never bought a watch with this condition ever doc. Not even for my Casio. I would update what they say either way.

Well observed

 By: Chimaera : January 14th, 2017-05:40
From Kari, as ever. The key here is to understand precisely the trajectory of the watch - something has obviously gone wrong somewhere and I feel sure that PP will be as eager to ascertain the facts as you are. Best of luck.

I have been in Patek's factory a couple of times

Great photos of the mesmerizing & ever-changing blue dial ! Also sad to hear about the condition of your new watch.

 By: GLau : January 14th, 2017-06:08
Given that you bought four Pateks from this AD last year, you are a VIP and it is unbelievable that this AD could have intentionally sold you a scratched-up watch. Hence, I would give the benefit of doubt to the AD and expect an exceptional answer and sol...

I think so too Gordon.

I expect a reply in good faith on a resolution from them, or expect a very honest review from me all over internet and BBB.

Sad to hear what happened to you with this splendid PP. I don't know from where the problem comes (your AD or PP) but it's just unacceptable. Hope you will have first a serious explanation and then a monetary compensation

Many thanks for your shots which clearly show us the fickleness of this PP dial and comparisons with other models. Best wishes Alkiro

PP selling sealed watches

 By: watch-er : January 14th, 2017-16:00
is nutty to me. Never accept a watch you cannot inspect fully before buying. Buying something sealed makes no sense at all. You would never buy anything else mechanical without checking it out so why buy a watch without kicking the tires.

Does the certificate have your name and address printed on it?

 By: jonrus : January 14th, 2017-16:33
You are one of the earliest poster to receive this watch. Just wondering if the watch sold to you is not a floor model for AD to see or show their customers early on about the anniversary models. If it is, it may still be new and unsold, but not scratchle...

Yes it has my name on it but now that I recalled, AD did

 By: CaptainCrunch : January 15th, 2017-17:18
Ask to send certificate separately from the watch. Perhaps that explains this as a show piece

I suspect this to be the case

 By: jonrus : January 15th, 2017-18:21
I recall that you posted a picture of the watch from your AD very early, before anyone had seen the watch in person. I remember thinking that this AD must be a very high volume one to have an anniversary watch on display and sell to a customer. That\'s wh...

They are a chain of 5 stores Jonrus so perhaps get a piece in advance of everyone else as a show piece for the region.

 By: CaptainCrunch : January 16th, 2017-05:21
This fact should have been stated firsthand for discount or additional work consideration. For a customer to receive a piece that has been worn is not right on many levels. I hope they bave the conscience to fix this problem instead of giving me a B/S sto...

Those are the proper way to treat sold watches.

I think almost all dealers in Asia saran wrap their pieces for fear of incurring scratches whatnot.

Stunning

its really beautiful. Still waiting anxiously for my 5976 to come in.

Bet this was a show piece

Temptation for 2 months in the safe? No ways everyone in the AD has been shown and handled the watch I think

it sounds like the watch was opened, shown (at least - if not actually tried on and worn), then re-sealed. I would DEFINITELY bring it up with the AD first, and if no response, then with PP, directly. -Dean

Lovely piece

Sorry to hear about the scratches but congratulations on getting this fine piece. Would love to get my hand on one.

Sorry you have this issue

 By: nice2guy : January 27th, 2017-10:03
Thanks for sharing your experiences. It's obvious you have not been treated fairly. And for a company that has been around so long and charges premiums, this should never happen. But I can't wait to hear their explanation.

Patek

Sorry to hear about your issue I'm sure the AD and Patek will resolve it. Thanks for the great comparison pics i now have an idea of the actual size compared to others pieces. Having several Nautilus models which fit me perfectly I can see this won't work...

There is another innocent possibility which I think is most likely what happened. I would be surprised if the watch had been unsealed by your AD,

meaning no one else wore the watch. Sometimes gold watches, which are a very soft metal can get an abrasion(s) from the plastic touching the watch, particularly if the watch moves a bit in the plastic or possibly if the sealed watch is handled, eg to show...
