The problem is that Omegamania...

The problem is that Omegamania was a bit of a sham and some pieces were incorrect even though they were described as correct by omega so we will possibly never know without an extract.
We have to bear in mind the mkII orange hand will fit the 861 on the speedy pro.

It will be interesting to see, but if it were my decision i would let it pass.

Worth my time, efforts and money???

I may have found an Omega Speedmaster made for the South African and Italian Markets from 1968 - 1972. I believe the Ref. #'s are ST 105.012 / ST 145.012. If this is real: is it worth pursuing? Thanx, Miki ...

Hi Miki Certainly interesting, so would depend on the price being offered. Obviously, the chrono second hand is wrong, and I presume the hour hand is underneath the minute hand, but has applied logo, amazing condition dot over 90 bezel (has this been repl...

Waiting for scans...

I requested scans of the case-back, in & out, and the movement. So far, no cigar. Believe it or not the second/chronograph hand appears to be correct. At least to these "old eyes". Thanx, Miki

As far I remember ...

The "Apollo" Speedmaster was made for the markets that you mentioned (South Africa and Italy) using a white dial and a red seconds hand and is very rare. Let's wait for the experts advise. Cheers, Nilo

321. ST 145.012. Special version with white dial, "Apollo" hands and 5-60 on bezel for certain markets (Italy, South Africa etc.) i'm afraid Miki, that the white dial is the only one listed as a special edition during 68-72 so this example looks to be inc...

Thanx for sharing...

I believe the model you mentioned would be Ref. #3570.40. That being said I love the idea of wearing a speedmaster and have worn a few. The reality of the matter is that I can no longer read their dials. However that doesn't stop me from maybe another one...

Nope, its the ST 145.012,...

I was referring to the Japanese Version (3570.40) you recommended. Regardless, I agree that a "pass" is in order. Thanx-again, Miki

sorry Miki, i misunderstood you.

Just received the scans I requested. The case-back says "ST 145.012 - 67SP". Sad truth is that I would be foolish to pursue this watch. However if any of my fellow PuristS have interest, let me know. I have no issues in sharing especially the really good ...

Hi all, I too had been looking at this cal. 321 Speedy for sale and must say I'm surprised that more here are not familiar with the ledgend of this reference of red handed Speedmaster. So let me begin by saying none of the "evidence" I'm about to produce ...

Thanks for that Zac. Interesting info which just goes to show that when it comes to vintage omegas you should never say never. I would be wanting an extract stating it was a japanese market watch before i parted with money for one as the red mkII hand is ...
