Panerai PAM 127 / 217. The references which made the old school guys' heart beat faster.
May 04, 2017,07:04 AM
An old picture I found in my hard disc...
The essence of the brand. Not that, nowadays, the essence is not there anymore, as we have, among a few other references, the PAM 372, the 587, the 687, 662, too.
But when you see one of those... Your heart starts to beat faster... Indeed.
Best,
Nicolas.
PS: I don't remember who to credit for that photo: Asi, Yves, Hammer?

remain the essence of Panerai: Fiddy and 217. Unbeatable couple! Thanks for sharing them, my Friend! Yours, Adam

I can't help wondering WHY the 217 has a Marina Militare on the dial and the 127 DOESN'T. As modern Panerai go, however, the only other pair that stands up to these ones is 587/673...because...they are both Mamma Mias. IMO of course.
Just one question...

Dear Nico, just one very important question - where the heck did the sub seconds go on each watch in your photo?!

the other day I exchanged the 2 Explorers, on this 3D I missed the fact that the..one..next to the 217 is not a Fiddy but a 372...LOL This on top of the fact that the "seconds" are missing...all around". I'll keep Bill's pictures as pictorial reference fo...

the days where everything was just 44mm and each time a new 47mm is out there we were all like: wow that's a 47mm! It's a Fiddy or MM lefty. Nowadays that's not the case anymore! 47 is just like any other model! Laurent

Can't help but feel sentimental about them. Panerai was the brand that truly got me into watches. I love the Fiddy a lot, and thought the 217 is a destro (not something for me) it's an equally appealing watch. Back in the day I remembered the Fiddy was so...
