Handmade Midnight blue elegance

GoS continues to draw inspiration from nature and are proud to introduce the most stylish and elegant Damascus steel dial ever made - Midnight Blue. The dial colors depend on lighting and the matte dial surfaces seamlessly change from satin black to anthracite while the polished surfaces varies between deep blue and piano black.

Patrik Sjögren developed the Ice Blue tempering of Johan Gustafsson's hand-forged Damascus steel for the Nordic Seasons collection in 2012. The goal was to achieve a nuance that resembled thick ice and was achieved by applying a higher temperature than what's normal in a steel tempering process. The Ice Blue tempering has then been continuously improved on and reoccuring in other models of the GoS collection.

This year, Patrik has developed a new finishing method with the goal to introduce a dark and elegant dial. The separate nuances of black and blue in the Damascus steel pattern are a result of combining a contrast finishing with tempering in multiple steps. The colors of tempered steel are created when light is reflected on the surface. Different nuances are experienced when light source or reflection angle changes.

Sarek Midnight Blue – with black Moose leather strap

Sarek - Midnight Blue is delivered with strap made from Swedish Moose leather and GoS offers four different choices of which the lighter Khaki or the glossy black are expected to be the most popular alternatives.

The Sarek is powered by a Soprod A10 movement that has been customized with a GoS triskele rotor. The triskele design is the GoS version of the famous Viking symbol with three interlocked horns and has been present on GoS watches since GoS was founded 10 years ago. The dark rotor is finished with a circular satinization and is equipped with an additional counter weight made from German Silver. The counter weight is hand-finished with polished bevels and circular satinization on the top for maximum contrasts.

The chapter ring and the case ring both draw inspiration from authentic Viking bracelets and brooches. Sarek is also the first GoS model to feature the new GoS crown, which is shaped much like the form of a Viking sword hilt. The neck of the GoS crown is deeply recessed into the case, thereby securing the crown and mechanism from side impacts. The hands are high gloss polished in a Dauphine finish with a center ridge which bears a closer resemblance to the Viking arrow and spear heads that inspired the first GoS hands.

The retail price of Sarek Midnight Blue is US$9,500 + applicable taxes. Like all GoS watches, every Sarek dial has a unique pattern but all share the same character. GoS will present dials for selection when ordering a Sarek directly from the workshop.
