Friday in Singapore, Montblanc invited to view their new smartwatch prototype, Montblanc Summit.

For the details, please click here for the press release and FX's post here.

A quick recap of the session ...

At the Montblanc Ngee Ann City Boutique ...

Upon starting up, the Montblanc Summit in the 1858  46mm PVD stainless steel case displaying the Android Wear 2.0 OS on its 1.39” large AMOLED  always-on display.

There are various case options - bicolour stainless steel with a PVD coated stainless steel bezel, satinated stainless steel and a Grade 5 titanium.

Could choose various Montblanc models' dials ... with the reflection mode on to simulate real metal dial.

If anyone with deep-pocket wishes to have a bespoke dial-design, he/she could work with Montblanc Creative Director and engineers to jointly develop one.
Otherwise, just wait for regular update of new faces on the Play Store.

the micro-app screen.
Summit connects via Wi Fi and Bluetooth with 4GB Flash storage that can be used to sync and play music  without the need of a smartphone.

A smartwatch with traditional watchmaking cases, and the signature Montblanc/Minerva mono-pusher which could not be turned, and only be actuated to toggle between screen and apps.

Flanking the monopusher are the microphones to use the translator and Google Assistant for hands-free dictation, voice-commands and messaging.

It would be nice to have the Montblanc logo be in white like on their pens for a distinctive look.

The caseback with the electrodes for charging and also the  heart-rate monitor sensors.

Overall, the lug to lug distance is long, may not fit well on smaller wrists. Perhaps the rubber NATO straps may help.
Anyway, the owner could choose from eight different types of straps to match various occasions.

Charging is via micro USB on a magnetic Montblanc dock.

A shot clip on the Summit and Worldtimer micro-app.
Swipe sensitivity could be improved.

Availability will be from May onwards.

I suppose trying it out is likely to be a good way to make up ones mind - if the initial reaction was not too defining already

Not for me.

In 20 years, you\'ll have a brick. WiFi and Bluetooth will be things of the past. Probably a custom battery which long since ceased production. Im a technical guy, I\'m always fascinated by new technology (and alpha tester of many hardware products or so ...

Good post .....
