True love or just fatal attraction?
May 28, 2017,02:51 AM
Influenced by Nicolas and his latest posts of his stunning Memovox, I was doing some search when suddenly I came across this gorgeous thing:
For those like me who just discover this beauty, this RED Memovox is the number 1 of a limited edition of 3 pieces fruit of the collaboration with the Industrial design superstar Marc Newson, and was sold in a Sothebys' charity auction for an astounding 365k$.
I must admit my first reaction to this baby was a loud "wow" followed by a frenetic search in google of any possible information. It was clearly love at first sight. However, after few hours from the "crash", and probably time to reflect on my reaction, I started to wonder if a simple change of color in a dial can create true love, or i was simply trapped by the typical marketing move (in this case of a genius like Newson) of the LEs.
The watch is gorgeous, no doubt, but ... could I love this watch just for the make up of the central dial more than I love the original one?
Thanks PuristS for your valuable insights

The RED is stunning, indeed an eye catcher, but I think it can not compete with the original in a long run. Cheers

I wrote about my experience finding a striking Limited Edition of a watch that I love, and I was questioning if the value proposition of this LE -which is exclusivity by changing the color of the central dial- and my appreciation for it could stand the pa...

It is striking but imho if you want red, you will have a love of a lifetime with either red reverso or Glashutte limited red 60s square.

As a proud owner of a tribute 1931 black dial, i can not agree more with your suggestion. The rouge is a masterpiece, equally cool and elegant. Not seen in the flesh the GO yet. Tks!

I actually saw them 'live' in New York before the auction took place. They also auctioned off a special version of the Atmos, as you can see below. Claus ...
