I already wrote an article about this watch, when it was unveiled at the 2017 SIHH.
6 months after, I had the opportunity to spend some time with it on my wrist.
Indeed, it is one thing to shoot a watch and to see it furtively, it is a totally different game to spend some hours with it, on the wrist, in different environments and contexts.
When I read the press file, I was worried a bit about the size of this Reverso, which is 49, 4 mm big, 29, 9 mm large and 10, 9 mm high.
The height didn't scare me, as it seems consistent for a watch of this size, but the length and the width...
In the reality, when you have the watch in the metal and that you try it on, it is surprisingly nicely proportioned.
A few words on the movement, which is the Cal 853, the same than the one housed in the Reverso Tribute Calendar introduced one year before, but with 57 parts removed ( 223 for the Tribute Moon versus 280 for the Tribute Calendar, since the full calendar pieces were removed ).
The functions this movement displays are the date, the moon phase, a second time zone and of course the hours and minutes.
One precision on the moon phase: It is accurate to one day each two years and a half.
And some other precisions on the dial:
The dial is made of brass, then silver plated, finely grained with the help of a brush.
The indices are in brass, too, and blue pvd coated.
The hands are heated blue, in steel.
The moon phase is in brass, lacquered blue.
That being said, let's see some fresh pictures I took at the Manufacture and while I was in Lausanne.
From an aesthetics point of view, this watch is very appealing. The moon phase adds poetry to a very elegant dial, whose texture is very much my taste.
The blue verso dial is not bad looking, either.
A detail I like a lot is the decoration " soleillé " of the internal part of the carriage.
Now, on the wrist, it is a watch which has presence, displays elegance and class. Even with a formal attire.
Here in Lausanne, in the Marina.
And now, at the Manufacture, at the Maison d' Antoine Sky Bar:
Or in front of the main entry of the Manufacture, with Antoine Lecoultre's approval.
Compared to the Reverso Tribute Calendar, the Tribute Moon has a big advantage... It is available in steel. So it is more affordable, the Tribute Calendar being available in rose gold, only.
But there is another Reverso which I prefer, from past year collection... The Reverso Tribute Duo, in steel.
Yes, you loose the poetry of the moon phase with the Tribute Duo, but it has a smaller case which I find even more attractive.
The Tribute Duo is top class. While the Tribute Moon ( or Calendar ) will be for those who find the Tribute Duo too small.
Looking forward to reading your comments and thoughts,
Best.
