Jaeger LeCoultre Geophysic Universal Time and GP John Harrison: side-by-side

Jul 26, 2017,01:29 AM

After a recent visit to a Purist friend, I took a rare opportunity to take a side-by-side shot of these two World Timers.

Each with its own charm, the JLC with its technical appeal and a superb movement and the GP with its charming enamel dial.

Two aces when it comes to World Timers.

That would be

probably the Holy Trilogy of modern World Timers... coz what else is there? The VC does not convince me as much, too much clutter on the dial. The MB is nice but not in the same league...

GP all the way for me ;) [nt]

The enamel dial of the John Harrison is hard to beat! Best Blomman

It was a great opportunity to take them side-by-side

I do like the JLC in the metal, much more than on photos, even there are a few points I would like to have seen implemented differently...

GP by a country mile

Just look at the quality of the dial! Superb!

It is probably unfair

to compare the enamel with the printed dial, but I'd say it again: the World Map on the JLC is very well done and looks awesome. There are other little things that spoil it a bit for me, like the jumping second (not a fan) or the thin 24h ring and the dif...

Both are very nice. GP's enamel dial excels over JLC's lacquer dial, but as to the overall watch, I find the JLC UT better.

The JLC has more harmony in the case and lugs, IMO. And I have come to appreciate the dead seconds complication on the JLC, so no demerit there. I do find the red printing on the JLC a bit jarring, and wish JLC instead used two different shades of blue (o...

Very good and thoughtful points, John

the only thing I can say as far as wrist comfort is concerned, both are equally good.

Great pair

Interesting how they have so much in common, yet look (and I bet feel) so different at the same time. Agreed with many previous comments that the GP looks cleaner and maybe more charming, yet the JLC could be viewed as technically more interesting. I'd ta...
