Another late entry…

Jul 19, 2010,14:21 PM

Had a small GTG the other evening, among us was my friend that now wears my previous Reveil RG (the one that got away...).

So I could not resist taking some photos to share in this Memo Roll Call…!

It wasn’t a Purists GTG, but from the look of my friend’s watches it might as well have been.

Ah, the Cal 914! :)

By: blomman Mr Blue : July 14th, 2010-04:02
A very beautiful and interesting Memo! Manual movement and with crystal case back. Yes, JML – I always like company! What fun would a forum be without it? Thanks for joining and showing your beautiful Memo! Best Blomman

Thanks

 By: jml_watches : July 15th, 2010-15:26
Hi thanks. What I really like is that it would now be considered quite small. Though it fits my wrist perfectly. Also it fits its movement perfectly. I'm also constantantly surprised at how black dial and ostrich strap work together. But then I do like an...

Yes, Resop – I did ring, and you answered! Good to see your “Perfect Memo”! Have you found your perfect Reverso yet? Best Blomman

Still working on that...

 By: respo : July 14th, 2010-06:21
...the perfect Reverso remains elusive, unless I just go ahead and get the Grande GMT, which may be THE ONE. We'll see in 2011. Thanks for recalling that I did find my perfect Memo. Best, respo

How can I forget, my friend?! :)

When you are showing it like this?! Best Blomman

before waiting for 2011 piece...

... you should seriously consider in getting Grande GMT first, look forward to seeing you joining our club by the way, as Blomman said, i also like your "perfect Memo". stefan

Re:

 By: bchankai : May 29th, 2016-14:29
What we really need is for JLC to make us a reverso memovox! Until then, I can vouch that a rotation of the grande GMT and the cal 914 is a happy combo! Brian CK

Here is mine

After a small drop and panic (nothing happened with the watch, movement etc. JLC is approved), here is: My AMVOX1 says: "Salud!" to all, Nilo...

AMVOX 1! :)

By: blomman Mr Blue : July 14th, 2010-05:20
Salud, Nilo ! Good to hear that your new AMVOX I didn’t take any harm from the drop...! Stunning photo, I have to learn how to take this kind of photos! Best Blomman

So far the oldest from the 90thies and only black dials! Well, I don’t blame you – you all know in which basket I have put the most of my eggs… Thanks guys for joining in! Very homogeneous so far. I wonder if this thread will show how diverse the Memovox ...

Great Reveil

 By: jml_watches : July 14th, 2010-13:38
Hi Blomman Great Reveil - another great Memovox. Really like yours and the strap looks great. Have been sorely tempted by this model in the past. Cheers JML

Thanks, JML!

By: blomman Mr Blue : July 14th, 2010-14:13
Yes, one of my favourite dress watches! This one was the one of open my eyes for Memos… Good or bad?! I don’t know, some times I wish they didn’t tempt me so much! Best Blomman

Yes indeed, Stefan! :)

By: blomman Mr Blue : July 15th, 2010-11:19
Thank you! The numerals and hands are pure JLC DNA! One detail that is not that common on JLC’s are the bezel. The profile of the bezel is high but not very wide, a detail I really love on the Reviel! Best Blomman

Let's begin by the beginning...

 By: amanico : July 13th, 2010-23:29
My latest catch, which is chronologically an early model, the Ref E 851 ( This one was made in 1955 ). I couldn't resist... Best, Nicolas This message has been edited by amanico on 2010-07-13 23:31:50...

Envious congratulations, Amanico. Cheers, pplater.

I'm still on the hunt for a few ones...

Like a clean example of the Memovox with the roll lugs ( the first Memo ), your black Memo housing the Cal 914, a World Time Ref 3160, the infamous Polaris 65 ( the original, of course ), and a double signature, like a Gubelin, a Dunhill or a Cartier... B...

That one looks really nice, Manish! Is it a Ref 3159, Cal K814? Best Blomman

yes blomman ..thanks. [nt]

Actually, I believe that's a ref 3151 powered by a cal 489

 By: GregB : July 16th, 2010-13:49
The ref 3159 was produced immediately after the ref 3150 barrel-lug model and shares the came movement caliber and dial styles and back. All that changed was the lug type. Greg

I don’t recognise this one, Manish

By: blomman Mr Blue : July 14th, 2010-11:26
Is it an early E 855, same calibre as your first? Best Blomman

yes cal. 855.. [nt]

Here are some additional pix of that model showing case details...

 By: GregB : July 16th, 2010-16:10
The case reference isn't marked internally, but appears the same as the E855..... just houses a cal 815 non-date instead of the cal 825 w/date. Warning - very old pictures taken when I had a poor camera:...

E 853?

 By: amanico : July 16th, 2010-21:41
Yes, Greg, almost the same case, just different lugs; compared to the E 855. Nice pics! Best, Nicolas

Good eye, Nicolas! I believe E853 is correct

 By: GregB : July 16th, 2010-22:11
From the front, both the E855 and E853 look the same, but from the side profile, the lug tips are a bit different. Good catch! Greg

Easy, as I'm looking for one! :) [nt]

Ref 9386 & 3015: The "Ford" Memovox Versions

In 1955, Henry Ford II issued Memovox watches to his top salesmen (and their wives) in a special boxed set. The men's watch was a U.S.-model Memovox reference modified with a Ford emblem on the dial at the 12 o'clock position. The lady's watch was a Longi...

The interesting, very interesting thing is that we are many, here, to own more than one Memovox. It is really a cult watch, whatever is the version. As for the Cal 910 / 911, yes, we doesn't see many. I'm looking for my first one with the WT 3160... Best,...

Stefan, The cal 911 seems much more common in U.S. models...

 By: GregB : July 16th, 2010-09:06
While the cal 911 is common here, the cal 910 (non-date) is far less common. Here is the way they were shipped from the Le Sentier to the U.S. for casing; with dials and hands pre-installed in batches of 10: Greg...

no wonder...

 By: GregB : July 16th, 2010-21:27
I try to keep notes on the case numbers and calibers (as well as detailed pictures inside and out) on all the watches that come through my collection. I hope to someday publish the list with pictures when it is a little more complete. I haven't had as man...

you should publish...

 By: FanFrancisco : July 16th, 2010-22:01
i see, no wonder you know the case reference of my watches straight away. i think your list is not completed yet, but the list of this kind would be very helpful and useful for collectors here. with this kind of important data, then more people can learn ...

Stefan, I'm thinking about that ...

 By: amanico : July 16th, 2010-22:09
