How about some Voutilainen sandwich dial?

I hope he will do some more sandwiches in the future and perhaps (dare I say it) in a slightly larger case (41/42 mm)?

Like you said a slightly lager case would be great for us (tall dutch guys) . I know he has done a bigger case on the ISO before .

I was eagerly awaiting this post after the embargo.

The sandwich dial, the lume, everything. I absolutely love it, and I thought I was immune to KV's charms. Again proves the lack of self control when it comes to beautiful... watches. Unfortunately your lume shot does not do it justice, but we really had n...

That is a beautiful watch!

So elegant

All depends on wrist size if you'd ask me. Or just simply taste.

Small watches look stupid on big wrists IMO

I am deeply in love with it, looks fantastic

It’s rather plain and ordinary looking without the trademark guiloché.

Not sure what’s gained from using a sandwich dial instead of just luming a regular one.

The style

I like it. Rugged dial side and a highly finished horological movement! Sort of Jackal & Hyde.

Sounds like the sort of thing someone says to reinforce their own positive bias. Remove Voutilainen from the dial and see if the same argument is made.

For the price we all know this would likely be, you have to be critical in your critiquing – this version just doesn’t cut the mustard, no matter how you try to dress it up.

Only insofar as where there’s a disconnect between the design and the brand’s cachet – Patek being a prime example of instances where poor design choice/implementation are overlooked because of their name.

No such argument would be raised if it were Seiko printed on the dial, for example. In other words, brands of a certain stature can get away with it, whereas lesser considered brands get lambasted for such faux pas.

I think you get a Voutilainen because you want the guilloche.

Otherwise get a UJ....thus I find a bit safe compared to his previous ones which were fantastic!

One of the funniest things with KV is...

the more you customise the less likely it is to get a real hands-on KV experience. There are only two people in his workshop to do Geneva stripes, including the man himself. If your KV movement comes in a different finish, this is already handled to his s...

Kari`s sandwich dial. Sandwich dials have a very special place for some vintage watch collectors. Those who know their very first use can guess the type of watch Kari had in mind when originally experimenting with this technique... Of course this techniqu...
