I do not mean to dampen your spirits especially before your holiday but the FPJ AD in the UK told me two weeks ago that the servicing cost of a Chronometre Bleu would be somewhere in the region of £1,650 (close to 1,900euros). I have always been a fan of ...
No service for this watch yet but I think you're right about its cost. FPJ is known for really expensive services so I'm not surprised by the amount you gave it to me
And I'm agree with you, it's a simple mechanism which doesn't require a master watchmaker to service it. The other problem is that the screws to open the case have a special design and require a specific screwdriver so you can't give it to your watchmaker...

I have been told that the movement is such that only FPJ can service the watch so I think they have ensured that they continue servicing all their watches too. They have to finance those lovely boutiques somehow!!

It was incorrect of me to assume
that the servicing of timepieces without complications would be cheaper than those with complications and I am glad the FPJ AD informed me of this. Many would probably not as it may impede a sale but I think long term customer relationship was prioritised...
We can philosophise and put things into perspective. The yearly cost of a yacht is 10% to 15% per year and it not decreases with its buying price (conversely!). So we are lucky with our tick-tock 😁
