Third Zagreb Horological Internationale - aka Puristspro GTG
Apr 22, 2017,22:56 PM
About a year ago three Purists met in Zagreb for the first time and created a body putting the UN to shame - well at least in terms of horological significance; namely the Mitteleuropean Puristspro Gang. In November the first grand MPG GTG was to follow, superbly organised by Magnus in Vienna. Now we've had the second one in Zagreb - the third horologically significant event of 2017. And apart from the SIHH or Baselworld there are few places on this planet of ours, where so many watch wonders - as well their friendly, knowledgeable owners - are gathered at once as at a Purist GTG! Oh, and the Internationale - well, we had most continents covered, even if some Purists could not make it. We were missing you and thinking of you, though
Some of us had an early start to the day - but getting there in time, braving anything from snow on roads to determined border policemen was paramount.
As was having a bracing tartare prior to actually entering into event mode proper...
They do have some of the best tartare's in the world in Zagreb - they are great
As the impeccable hosts they are, Damjan and Zabreg have organised a little 'cultural hors d'ouvres' first, exercising both the liver function and pleasing the eye
But Purists would not be Purists, if watches would not start leaving wrists and changing hands
Then the final event. A simple sample shot to demonstrate...
And one Purist determined to win the contest, irrespective of what it takes. Including welding the bracelet together, so no one can pry the watch off his wrist. Oh, and there were more watches added to this later on
Learning from the first Zagreb experience, a separate watch table was organised, so that there was space for food on the main table. And what food! You could call it surf and turf, although the turf said baaaah and the surf, well went a bit deep sea (pun intended, had some of the JLC kind, too ). Here a teaser - a separate food post to follow. A happy Purist is most certainly not a hungry - or thirsty - Purist
There were so many truly astounding watches it is impossible doing justice to them all. And posting all in one post would probably break the servers and make Bill a very busy guy this Sunday.
I'll leave the happy newly minted owners of the P15 to add theirs but whatever the watch, the two Purists statements of 'Together We Prosper' and 'Passion, Information, Opinion' were present throughout - and this event is another testament of us, Purists
Here some earlier community watches to demonstrate...
Once again, thanks to all of you, who made the long journey to Zagreb for a wonderful day and to our wonderful hosts for a superb organisation!
Next one cannot come soon enough
