Pequignet, the French watch manufacturer with inhouse capabilites, filed bankrupty today. The firm, with its distinguishable asymetrical timepieces, will face a sour fate: liquidation. Crisis in watchland(s) have yet claimed another victim!

Not sure we have many owners here but I always found the brand refreshing - especially since they were neither German nor Swiss. If the crisis persists, that could well mean more independents disappearing and a loss of diversity in terms of what gets offe...

The Rue Royale models (more specifically the Power Reserve one) were nice with a beautiful in-house movement. And they offered a great value for money IMHO. Really sad news but not so incomprehensible after a first bankruptcy in 2012 :-( Best wishes Alkir...

dutch newspaper "telegraaf" that breitling is looking for a buyer due to Heavy market conditions in the East

I am the same. Love their watches but don\'t know ANYONE who has ever bought one new (very few bought them second hand too, which really killed the resale $$$) Dad but inevitable

I saw their watches in Paris a couple of years ago and they left a real impression on me, stylish and well executed. A shame
Sad news but not a surprise...
Pequignet is offering a great movement but the strategy behind it was in my point of view lame. They should have created two distinct brands and so on. I hope that a new investor will be found by I'm not very optimistic. Fx

Even if not to my tastes, these watches were high quality, unique and pretty good value. These are difficult times for a lot of brands.
Just had a chat with someone at Pequignet, and they have confirmed that they are looking for and been speaking with new investors.
At the moment, they have a 3 month timeframe, but if nothing is secured by then, it’s not an automatic closing of the doors – they can possibly get another few months extension. So for now, don’t assume the worst has been pre-determined – they have a figh...
UPDATE: there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel!
The commercial court at Besançon seems to have agreed on a restructuring plan devised by a small number of employees of the brand, which essentailly gives green light for operations to continue. Important aim of the company is to try to pay the watchmaker...
I purchased one...
a Rue Royale directly from Marie Leibengut, Didier's wife, in 2011. It got caught up and delayed a month in US Customs because they didn't fill out form correctly for the alligator strap. It's a shame to see another independent go down.
