Girard-Perregaux blue dial divers, different generations

May 29, 2017,02:07 AM

Friends,

a quick side-by-side shot after a super-busy weekend.

Here we have two GP Diver watches, one from the 70ies and one from the late 2000s, both with blue dials.

Some interesting observations:

You can see the lineage and consistency, even one is a Deep Diver and the other a Sea Hawk.

I think blue works very well on a diver.

Here is another blue GP diver - the Sea Hawk II, ref 7100 from 1989: Great to see the evolution through time. Best Blomman ...

Thanks for adding the "middle section" :)

the Sea Hawk 7100 certainly belongs into that line, unfortunately I "only" have that one in Black

That is not "only"!

The black dial version is stunning! Best Blomman

Nice comparison shot of two great watches.

I'm curious to know what the additional numbers between the indices around the dial of the vintage one are for. Regards Kev.

Thanks Kev.

I don't know the answer to your question. I have seen the same numbers on some other divers but rarely. I think we need someone who actually goes diving to answer that question. CC

I would answer yes and no, Alkiro :)

True, they are not the same watches and have a lot of differences, but I do see some consistency. For example the hands and also how the modern Sea Hawk picked up the double crown setup with the crown at 4:30h. I guess, if you look at Sea Hawks from the 6...

Thank you CC for your comment and additional information.

A modern Sea Hawk is something I keep in mind because I always loved this timepiece. I think I could opt for the Mission of Mermaids one day ;-) Best wishes Alkiro

This one?! :)

Ah, yes! The Green Mermaid is really nice! BTW, to see two side-by-side like this - it might be hard to see the DNA... But if you add ... The Deep Diver 8867 the Deep Diver 9076 the Deep Diver 9108 the Sea Hawk and the Sea Hawk II You see the DNA run thro...

Impossible to wrong foot you ;-)

Yes I love the Mission of Mermaids but if I could buy only one, it would be this super rare GP Sea Hawk. So cool for me. Credit: aBlogtoWatch Best wishes Alkiro ...

You may try....! ;) [nt]

the lugs on the Sea Hawk are quite long and curved. One of the reasons why I searched to get the 40mm version rather than the 42mm as on the bigger one, the lugs can stick out on your wrist if it is a small wrist.
