An old photo: Girard-Perregaux Deep Diver pair 7254

Just stumbled over this old side-by-side shot of the 1st generation Deep Diver, so thought I'll share it.

The black is mine and the white belongs to Blomman.

100 fathoms is a very great depth for this watch, I'm thinking to Blancpain 50 fathoms from 1953 and its technical characteristics... are they comparable?

Comparable, not sure

the 7254 was GPs first skin diver from around 1957, so quite a bit after the FF. The FF is quite a bit larger and with bezel. I have no idea with the 100 fathoms were really achieved in practice. This watch has no screw-in back and no screw-in crown. Mayb...

1957. One small batch

Only 500 in total. Best Blomman

As Blomman said, 1957

and rather rare birds...if they really did survive 600 feet, I'm not so sure

Ah, the brothers side-by-side!

I think between you and me, we probably own 10% of the still existing population

LOL! Yes, you more than me! [nt]

Interesting that most here vote a preference for the white dial. I think the black is more common for dive watches and maybe in the metal the preference is different. CC

Thank you! [nt]
