Trivial though weighty information...

... Awhile ago, I got curious about weights of watches, so I bought a small scale. I was swapping straps between these two Chopards yesterday and figured I'd weigh them, just to see the difference, while I had them in their rare strapless state. The L.U.C. 1.96 on the left is white gold and weighs 58.5g. The one on the right is platinum and weighs 68.9g. [They both make me smile equally, though.]

Interesting information. I suppose the ratio between both same models in gold and platinum will vary from one brand to another thanks to different internal alloys

Just checked my periodic table and the platinum has a density of 21.45 vs 19.28 for gold (yellow of course). In order to compare with other materials: 16.6 for tantalum 12 for palladium 4.54 for titanium between 7.5 and 8.1 for steel between 8.4 and 9.2 f...
