Rare moments with the Mille Miglia 2014 Race Edition

Oct 11, 2016,01:07 AM

The Mille Miglia 2014 Race Edition has been my second Chopard, entering our household about one year after the LUC Chrono One. I choose my words precisely, as it also changed ownership to my wife pretty much upon entry wink

Even though she never had the watch on the radar, it has slowly but very surely become her daily wear watch and it is quite difficult separating her from her MM. So these days my moments with the watch are rare and far between. I can still take it to service, and occassionally, I get to take care of it, while she's engaged in non-watch friendly activities.

This was one of those moments - our daughter was very much into the playground, while mommy was in the pool (one of the few places, where the watch does not go) smile This explains it being worn on the right wrist. I know quite some people do it but it is probably an aquired taste - for those infrequent right wrist watch users like myself it felt very unusual...

Good to know that I could have timed my little one over the obstacle course with absolute, COSC certified precision wink

And here some recent pics, showing that in spite of hard and heavy use (a small kid will somehow dictate it) it still keeps in excellent shape. And it has an excellent lume, going strong for pretty much the whole night.

The strap has come to the end of its life (one year old), which is sooner than expected but then again OK for an almost daily wearer. Wondering, whether my wife will go for another Barenia strap in dark brown, or if we should be more adventurous and go for something from the Italian flag colours (colour scheme of the watch) instead - suggestions welcome! And now the Chopard factory is fully staffed again after the summer break, meaning that the express orders get made in 14 days smile

So even though it hardly ever graces my wrist these days, it's gone to a 'better place' wink And I at least get to see it every day biggrin

Really like the case size (perfect IMHO), the Italy themed dial and the lovely numerals Given that it is not a LUC, a date is a given and sadly here the date disc is not exactly the same shade as the dial. And I have to say my wife definitely appreciates ...

We all have this problem! ;)

But they often work very well on their wrists, too, so...

I see this as a good thing....

Now I can say I have no Vintage 1945 and need to find one for me! Best Blomman

I am flattered but it will take me quite some time to compete with CaliforniaJed or MTF in this regard.

Working on that :) [nt]

Point of order: The strap is designed that way

Congratulations on rescuing the watch if only for a few hours You mentioned the strap is at the "end of life". I wonder? It looks like a Barenia leather strap. If so, it is supposed to become gently "distressed" for the vintage look. Small scratches are s...

From the top...

It still looks great, just that on the sides it looks like it is slowly falling apart. Which makes it look more distressed than the odd self healing scratch. I have to say it is supremely comfortable, which is a big plus, though Thanks for viewing, MTF!

My Barenia strap also goes that way

That is the way the sides become "vintage" look. While the top surface is self healing, the sides are not. I don't wear my Barenia strap as I often as yours so it is a little behind in changing. Regards MTF

Well, then let's see :)

Now I am curious! I guess Chopard will have to wait a bit for the next strap order, then
