Chopard developed the Mille Miglia chronograph collection as a way to represent elegance and high performance needed in both the watch and classic car race industries. 

To commemorate the 2018 California Mille tour, Chopard has designed a limited edition Mille Miglia Classic Chrono.

A powerful, distinctive and resolutely contemporary design, the watch embodies cutting-edge technology and sophisticated aesthetics. Clearly determined to stay ahead of the competition, it houses a mechanical self-winding chronograph movement that is chronometer-certified by the COSC.

Inspired by vintage racecars that raced the Mille Miglia between 1927 and 1940, this timepiece features a circular satin-brushed black dial and luminous hands and markers that guarantee a clear reading.

With refined elegance, the Mille Miglia Classic Chrono stainless steel watch features a 42mm case and a Dunlop tire style rubber strap with the California Mille 2018 logo on the case back. The 10-piece series will be available exclusively to participants of the California Mille.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the partnership with the Mille Miglia race in Italy, Chopard is proud to announce that it is the major sponsor of the 28th Annual California Mille. Drawing upon the original Italian open road race from Brescia to Rome that ran from 1927 to 1957, the California Mille is a 1,000 mile, four-day excursion through the quaint back roads and picturesque towns of northern California.

This year, the event features over 70 classic cars manufactured before 1958.

On April 15, 2018, the public is invited to the largest free car show of its kind before the drivers embark on their journey. 

The drive will begin on April 16, 2018, after a flag-waving sendoff from the Director of Italian Cultural Affairs. Drivers will depart from San Francisco and drive little known roads to Lake Tahoe, through the wine country, and ending on April 19 at Cavallo Point in Marin County overlooking San Francisco and the Bay.

The close ties between Swiss timepiece and jewelry Maison, Chopard, and the Mille Miglia stem from a now-inseparable shared history. The initial connection was born from a personal passion for classic cars nurtured by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Chopard Co-President. Under his leadership, Chopard became the main sponsor of the Mille Miglia in 1988 and one of the first brands to associate its name with the automobile world.

As an indication of increasing visibility and endeavour in the Americas, Chopard will commemorate the 2018 California Mille tour with a limited edition Mille Miglia Classic Chrono.

This 10-piece issue is a true limited edition rather than current industry practice of special editions "limited" to thousands of pieces!
