Gerald Genta Fantasy "Mickey Mouse" Watches

May 03, 2010,07:54 AM

The official statement from Bulgari regarding the Gerald Genta Fantasy Watches is that:

At this stage of the process, they chose to "highlight the core products introduced at Basel 2010. Regarding more precisely the Gérald Genta Fantasy/Mickey Mouse watches, this topic is under discussion."

So there you have it.  I guess we will have to wait and see.

Great questions on the interview! Interesting insights on their view of the e-commerce situation. Sounds like Bulgari is committed to real watchmaking and focused on giving collectors what they want. -MW

Very interesting interview. I really think that

BVLGARI is going in the right direction preserving Daniel ROTH & Gerald GENTA DNAs. Will follow with great interest their future combined creations. From 2010 collection, my major interest is to try on my wrist the Chronosprint Endurer, as Mr TRAPANI alre...

+1 on the Chronosprint

I agree with you Patrickh, based on the interview responses that Bulgari is going the right direction preserving DR and GG DNA's. Thanks for checking out the interview! Regards, ED-209

They've managed to capture the best of both worlds somehow by preserving the DNA of DR/GG and doing it in a way that existing fans can be pleased with as well as gain a number of new potential customers too. I think the cleaner looks of the watches are a ...

A very thorough interview...

It has been made quite clear how Mr. Trapani wishes to steer the Bulgari corporation. Mr. Trapani has certainly accomplished quite a significant amount for Bulgari in his time. While I've never met Mr. Trapani, I'm quite pleased with his answers to the in...

Oh, I am somewhat dissatisfied with the answer to the e-commerce question...

 By: patrick_y : April 30th, 2010-21:47
I am truly against e-commerce for large purchases such as important timepieces and important pieces of jewelry. For instance, Costco Wholesale, which is a warehouse retail chain (imagine a giant department store that sells food, clothing, and home product...

e-commerce for entry models, no matter for me

 By: patrickh : May 1st, 2010-00:21
That is allow everyone, where he lives (far from an Official Boutique) to have access to his beloved watch. For high horological watches, I am quite sure BVLGARI will sell them in their own boutique or AD. Just my thoughts, Patrickh

A hypothetical model...

 By: patrick_y : May 1st, 2010-11:23
Let's say Audemars Piguet sold their simple pieces online, and insisted that those who were interested in the high horology pieces to acquire them from actual retailers. To me, that would be a slap in the face if I were a person (with less financial means...

Hi patrick_y, Thanks again for sharing your opinion but I don't agree with you about the negatives of e-commerce. IMO, one of the most frustrating experiences with retail shopping is inventory (or lack of) and the hassles with inexperienced or misinformed...

Thanks for your thoughts patrick_y

I agree with you, I can't wait to see the new GG and DR timepieces. I've been snooping aroung the boutiques in Honolulu and Las Vegas asking for updates Regards, ED-209 This message has been edited by ED209 on 2010-05-01 00:46:22

I've been inquiring around here in San Francisco as well. Bulgari recently opened a beautiful store in San Francisco and I am eager to see the new pieces!

Thank you for your equally thorough response Patrick.

All your points are valid and well stated. I think it's something they are certainly aware of and doing their best to work through. They've already parI ted down the DR/GG lines quite a bit to include only the standout models. I think this is a great star...

I really enjoyed reading the interview with Mr. Trapani. In some ways, I think Bulgari has an advantage in launching a haute horlogerie line (their own solely Bulgari branded pieces, as well as the Genta/Roth watches) due to the deep respect that the Bulg...
