They are yet to update the Breguet website so I called my local boutique and they were not yet aware that Breguet had made these changes. A nice surprise....

The depth of the engineered white gold dial is absolutely superb

Thanks to Nilfire77 and also jkingston for the info!

The newer ones come with free sprung balance... same case for Blancpain's Caliber 6950...

IMO, these FP1150 based movements are so under-appreciated. They have tremendous hand polished anglage that could put a lot of Pateks' to shame. In my ownership experience the anglage finishing(be it the 517GG or the 6950) is as good as a Lange's. For tho...

Wow! I didn't realise there were more changes other than the free sprung balance and silicon hairspring... Thanks for the info, jkingston!

And for those with the old movement who wish to upgrade their balance wheel and hairspring, I have contacted Swatch Group and they said it can be done. Although they were not able to provide me with an estimated cost, I believe it won't be cheap.

So underrated

I am wearing my new 5817 as I write this. Love this watch. Perfect combination of classic Breguet design and sporty appearance. ...

I agree completely. There are few other manufacturers that finish the this standard on any design let alone a watch that has been designed to be used as a sports watch.

I'm not going to cover mine in cotton wool - it's going to be used and loved and never polished - it will have my memories & history etched on it

It's not so easy as a model year

Old stock/new stock were overlapping in 2015, according to the NY Boutique
