rigid service from AP - a bit disappointed

Jul 19, 2017,19:04 PM

Hi folks ,

I finally got my perpetual calendar offshore chronograph back from a full servicing from ap HQ in Switzerland but realised that they turned the bezel upside down.

You might say what's the difference but when you are watch lover , you know your watches inside and out and you notice all the minor inflections and marks that you have become used to and familiar with about your prized possession.

So I went down to my friendly AP service center in singapore to rectify it but when I mentioned this to them , they supposedly told me that they aren't authorised to open up my watch and that they would need to send it all the back just to flip he Bezel to the correct original position .

Very peculiar and contradicting because when I first sent in my perpetual calendar to ap service center in singapore, they told me that they have senior watch makers who are skilled in opening and servicing perpetual calendar offshores.

I tried to reason with them but they refused . I am quite disappointed at the moment because I feel that they should be more accommodating especially since it was their fault that the bezel was not reassembled properly and to its original state.

Quite honestly I don't understand why they couldn't have just acceded to my simple request as it would have made my day and further affirmed my love and support in advocating the brand to my peers.

Now I am left contemplating how the customer service standards have somewhat dropped at AP.

Appreciate any help from the community here so that I can get a quick and prompt resolution to this seemingly minuscule request that would go a long way in restoring my faith with the brand.

So the place in Singapore that refuses to turn the bezel, they are the actual Audemars Piguet Service Center?? So they received your watch for the initial service, accepted it, and sent it to Switzerland? I have no idea why they could not turn it 180 degr...

Very strange

that's my point exactly. they initially told me they have senior watch makers who can fix tourby's and other complications. now they say they aren't even authorised to open up the case to flip the bezel. this is AP SINGAPORE Service center who are the sup...

I would prefer they send it back if they do not think they are

qualified to flip the bezel. I would just request that they expedite the service. The last thing you want is the bezel to not be perfectly sealed. Best, JerryW

things don't add up

...I eventually thought that it was me, my fault, I was too picky or something. Now I read your "misadventure" and I know that there is definitely something wrong with AP Service Centre. The people at the AP Service Centre in Singapore are really nice and...

I would leave it as it is

Each time the watch is opened and serviced you are risking damaging something else. After all, they are also humans. If must, it should go back to HQ again as they were the ones that opened it in the first place. I suffer with OCD but even I would leave t...

I completely understand.

Not the first AP servicing problem, as many have already posted. My AP RO QP is in for service for the second time in less than a year. And the graciously let me know that it will be serviced under warranty from last time. And this is their Geneva Boutiqu...

Mine has been in Switzerland for service since February this year and still waiting. Fingers crossed.

I already gave 4 AP for a full service at the Geneva boutique and I never experienced any problem.

Regarding your bezel, may be a good watchmaker could help you if you know one. The only issue is to know if he owns an AP screwdriver to achieve this job. My two cents. Best wishes Alkiro

Some good news !

hi All, I am happy to report that I spoke with their customer service manager in singapore and he agreed to make an exception to help do it in singapore. I Guess that Common Sense and customer service prevailed in the end ! I'm a happy AP customer still !...

Well

Did they clarify whether or not their watchmakers are authorized to service QPs ? The question remains what they are able to service if even swapping the bezel has to be done as a service exception. Perhaps you can ask for an official written response fro...
