The Sommelier tastes Russian!!!

Let me first tell you all how ashamed I am to call myself “ a collector”!

I have just seen a “collection” so incredible in depth and focus. Not in bandwidth, but FOCUS.

Over possibly 1000 watches and 500 clocks in an area of 1500 sq feet.

Over 500 books read and reread, researched on clocks, art and history.

Over 10 years of traveling to Russia and remote areas of the USSR (then).

Over $$$$$ spen with no intent of “trading”

Over 17 volumes of printed and written cataloqing of the collection..time of purchase, location, condition, history of timepiece. Hand written and tagged.

Over 50 boxes of watches with all straps removed, each box with 10 to 20 watches on themes.

Watches collected with dial variance or hand variance!!!

Boxes with seemingly IDENTICAL timepieces with only a variation in FONTS.

Collection of sculptures, relics, ceramics…all to aid in understanding of the development of social trends that may have influenced watch making in Russia.

Intense study and editorial contributions to political and social demography of the USSR and Russia.

Welcome to the world of academic collecting.

I am proud to announce the association of thepurists with ONE man…no argument, the ONLY man in the world with such depth, and history and knowledge, UNCHALLENGED and is consulted by the present day watchmakers in Russia.

That man is Mark Gordon.

Pictures to come within HOURS.

For more of the Sommelier series…see the UN forum for now.
